In the Dominican Republic, where hurricanes, storms and floods can be frequent, a lack of access to water and sanitation is compounded by the vulnerabilities resulting from climate change. With only 45% of households having access to clean water, the government recognized the need for whole-of-government approaches to further advance access and build resilience from climate-change-related shocks. Prioritizing water in the national budget was a key feature of their compact.
