Where Ideas Meet Action

Water security, resilient sanitation systems, and climate action are crucial to growth and fundamental to human rights. Addressing them requires more than policy commitments — it demands ongoing dialogue, shared learning, and collective action. Our events bring together partners, governments, civil society, funders, and practitioners from around the world to exchange evidence, spotlight innovations, and drive accountability for the people still left behind.

SWA at LatinoSan 2026: Political Leadership for Governance Reform and Integrated Sanitation

3 June 2026, 1:30 - 2:30 pm | Barceló Bavaro Palace, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The SWA partnership will co-host an event at the VII Latin American Sanitation Conference (LatinoSan 2026), hosted by the Government of the Dominican Republic. While Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have made progress in expanding sanitation services, persistent inequalities remain, particularly in rural, peri-urban, small island, and coastal contexts. These challenges are intensified by climate change, extreme weather events, ecosystem degradation, rapid urbanization, and structural financing gaps.

Our session discusses what the increased visibility of sanitation within national resilience, biodiversity, and economic development agendas means for communities and what momentum toward new or reinforced Heads of State–led commitments in the region could look like.

Convenors: Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, Government of Dominican Republic and Sanitation and Water for All (SWA)
